Pinnacle dazzle dvc 100 vs canopus advc110 drivers#
My guess is that either the drivers or the chip itself is hogging the PCI bus excessively. Not only was this device screwing up the 1394 interface, but it would cause skipping/static on my Audigy 2, and frame drops on my Bt8x8 capture card as well. I finally traced it to the crappy onboard Ethernet on my motherboard (based on a Broadcom 4401 10/100 controller chip). I did have some serious frame drop problems when I first got the box though. Never saw a sync problem even at the end of the capture. I've routinely been capturing 2-3 hour clips on my ADVC-100 from VHS for the past month or so.

Generic IEEE 1394 card with VIA chipset ($14.00)Ģ, Pioneer AO3 DVD-R burners (Firewire connected)īeen looking at both of them for a possible upgrade since we are into repeates for tv shows and want to backup some of these old Beta/VHS/LD around here before they go bad. Western Digital 120Gb, 7200 rpm, 8mb cache HD One is XP Sp1 and the other is Win2k SP3. FYI, so there is no misunderstanding I'll give my system specs. Like I said before the Canopus ADVC 100 worked just as well, but it was $100.00 more. I'm buying 2 more HD's (250Gig) next since I'm capturing so much! In a word this thing is working exactly as advertised. Perfect, no frames dropped, no synch issues.

Using Adobe P 6.5 and the DAC100, I've captured a lot of 2hr VHS, L-disc and DVD. When everyond did the test for audio sync how long was the clip? Some of the boxes I read about go nuts on sync between 15 to 45 minutes.īeen looking at both of them for a possible upgrade since we are into repeates for tv shows and want to backup some of these old Beta/VHS/LD around here before they go bad. So, I ordered the DAC100, got it, hooked it up, powered it on, booted the computer, opened AP 6.5 and captured! I then tried it on my other two machines and it worked just as well! BOTTOM line is this: For $186.00 delivered to my door working perfectly without a dog and pony show to make it work, Makes me wonder why I pulled my hair out with all the other cap cards! I got a rep on the line by the thrid ring! I asked a few more questions and my decision was made. I emailed them with a list of basic questions before I ordered the DAC100, They replied within an hour! Just to see how good the support was I called.

Just awsome perfect captures! The support I have recieved from Datatek video has been way above my expectations. WORKS PERFECT! This thing rocks! No macrovision issues, no dropped frames, no audio sync problems. I've been using it for two days now and have captured DVD, VHS and L-disc. BUT since I had less $$$$ on hand I ordered the DAC 100 for $179.00 + $7.00 shipping. I GOT THE DAC100! I tried the Canopus ADVC 100 a friend let me borrow and it worked flawlessly. I told you folks I'd let you know what I'd find. Pinnacle MovieBox DV: (very new device, found one from ) Happy if anyone would like to correct my impression or add your comments). It is very likely that I have a wrong impression.

I do not have first hand experience on any one of them. My impression about each one is as follows (Well, That is the reason I would like to go through DVīased on my knowledge, there are currently 5 devices (external box type)Īvailable under $300. DV formatīy its nature does not have a/v sync problem. Like most annoy problem in video capture is a/v sync problem. I am also looking for an analog to DV converter for a while.
